The records of smaller towns and villages
of Pomerania date from XIII century to 1945 and refer to former
voivodeships of Gdańsk, Słupsk, Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Ciechanów, Olsztyn
and Elbląg. The holdings contain precious parchment documents written
by Polish rulers, dignitaries of the Teutonic Order, bishops and
abbots, castellans (governors of castles) and starosts (governors
of districts). The majority of the records are foundation charters
and their confirmations, leasing contracts, registration books,
assessors books, exemptions from charges, religious privileges,
protocols of the sessions of city councils, documentation of guilds and
other records of municipal administration.
